Letter to Parents/Carers 15/01/21

Dear Parents and Carers,

I wanted to send a quick note just to thank you for your support at the end of what has been a really busy but I believe successful week.  Thank you so much for the kind emails we have received, they really do make the staff feel valued.  I know you are also busy so thank you for taking the time to call or email with your positive messages.

The students have done extremely well and with the help of our Team Heworth, parents and carers, our attendance and engagement has increased each day.

The feedback we are receiving from you and from students is very helpful and we have been able to adjust our provision so that it is not too much and overloading students.

We are continuing to loan laptops in priority order to those eligible and have now distributed over 90 this week, which is great but we are still working on this, so please bear with us and we thank you for your patience.

We are aiming to roll out more of our personal development curriculum in the next few weeks, with careers, mindfulness, student council and co-curriculum sessions.

Staff will also be highlighting activities for year 7-10, Passport to Success activities so that students can continue to work towards graduation.

With regards year 11 and 13 exam arrangements, the government and Ofqual are still consulting on what schools will need to do, and I will update you as soon as I know.  In the meantime, please reassure your child that they just need to do what they can at home, keep communicating with teachers through Class Charts, and to keep attending remote sessions.

I want our young people to just focus on what they can control rather than worrying about what might happen, so keeping up with the work set is the best thing they can do right now.

Finally, thank you again and have a restful weekend.

Yours sincerely

Headteacher
