Letter to Year 10 Parents/Carers – 19/03/21
Dear Parent/Carer
Year 10 Intervention – Week commencing 22nd March 2021
I hope this letter finds you and your families well. We fully acknowledge any concerns you may have around your child’s progress given the changes to learning Covid-19 has caused over the past year. To support your child as fully as we can, we are pleased to give our Year 10 students the opportunity to begin intervention groups on a Wednesday and Thursday evening after school commencing next week. Students will stay in school from 2.45pm to 3.30pm to work with a core subject teacher for focused support around their personal learning needs.
With the recent changes to the exams process for Year 11 we are able to begin the intervention groups with Year 10 a term earlier than normal and they will continue to be in place throughout Year 11. This ensures your child is fully supported as they work towards their final GCSE examinations.
Your child will be directed to either English, Maths or Science intervention depending on where they need the support most. We have used the data from the mock exams completed in December to identify this. Your child will visit the same teacher on both the Wednesday and Thursday night to maximise learning gains. Group sizes will be limited to 10 students to allow more teacher time for the student. This will run up to the end of the Summer term.
We currently have 100% attendance at our interventions for the current Year 11 students and they really value the extra support. We have the same high expectation for our Year 10 students and we would appreciate your support in ensuring your child attends their intervention.
If you have any questions please contact Miss George via email on helen.george@heworthgrange.org.uk or through reception.
Yours faithfully
