Alongside their reading and literacy skills, we know how important it is for our students to be numerate. We use maths in every aspect of our lives, at work, and in practical everyday activities at home and beyond. We use maths when we go shopping or plan a holiday, decide on a mortgage or decorate a room. Decisions in life are so often based on numerical information; to make the best choices, we need to be numerate.

At Heworth Grange numeracy skills are developed across our school’s curricula, particularly in mathematics. As well as covering curriculum content, students at Key Stage 3 engage in Times Table Rockstars and Numeracy Ninjas to help them develop their numerical fluency, speed and confidence.
