Exam congratulations!

A message from Mr Richardson –  25th August 2016

Many congratulations to all of our Year 11 students who came into school today to collect their GCSE results. There were many happy and smiling faces and we look forward to seeing many of them back in the sixth form next month.

To all of those leaving us for college, apprenticeships and employment, we wish them all the very best and hope that their success today will stand them in good stead as they embark on the next exciting chapter in their lives and careers.

Despite all of the upheaval in the exam system and pass rates falling nationally, our overall 5+ A*-C with English and Maths actually improved by 2% on 2015 and there were improvements too in the pass rates for both English and Maths. The overall progress made by students was also significantly better than in 2015, even in very challenging circumstances.

This collective success is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of the students and reflective of the great support they received from their families and teachers.

Everybody at the school would like to send huge congratulations to our year 13 students who picked up their A Level results this morning. The overall pass rate rose to over 99% with a higher average point score than 2015 too. Half of the passes were at the higher A* to B grades and as a result there was an excited and celebratory atmosphere as students arrived to share their own individual success stories with their friends.

Most importantly of all every student who was pursuing a place at university or college was successful in doing so and we wish them all the very best as they move on to the next exciting phase of their academic careers.
Their success is a testimony to their hard work and dedication and to the support and guidance of their families and teachers.
