  • Some Good News to Share...

    Published 10/01/22

    Dear parents and carers,

I am delighted to announce that Yvonne Baker our chair of the school’s local academy board has been awarded the OBE (Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in the Queen’s New Year 2022 Honours List for services to STEM education.  Yvonne has worked tirelessly over a number of years to improve STEM education for young people in the UK and I know you will join me in congratulating her on this fantastic achievement.  As a school we benefit from Yvonne’s expertise in STEM education and her experience of leading and improving large organisations.  As a body of staff and students we feel very fortunate to have her support and guidance as we continue to navigate the transformation of Heworth Grange whilst still managing the challenges that COVID-19 poses on a daily basis.  If you have a moment, you can read the full press release from STEM Learning here.

Thank you for your continued support.

    With best wishes,

    Allie Denholm

  • COVID-19 Update 04/01/2022

    Published 04/01/22

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Following the government update on Saturday 2nd January, all students except those who are exempt must wear a face covering in shared spaces but now also in classrooms. Can parents ensure all children come to school with a face covering and if they do not have one they must acquire one from their HOY at morning line-up.

  • Consilium Photography Competition

    Published 17/12/21

The inaugural Consilium Photography Competition has come to a close this term. The competition saw over 350 images submitted from students and staff from every school across the Trust. The theme of this term’s competition was water, encouraging our aspiring photographers to get creative and experiment in order to capture water in diverse, exciting, and unique ways.

The competition was judged by acclaimed professional photographer, Robert Darch, who is known for his documentary-style images that are atmospheric, often depicting tension between stillness and motion. The prize for first place was a £50 gift voucher, second place received a £25 gift voucher, and three, third place winners received vouchers of £10 each.

One of our very talented Year 7 students Matthew W, placed 3rd in the competition. What an amazing achievement!

  • Information for Years 10 and 11

    Published 16/12/21

    Dear Parents and Carers,

Unfortunately, due to the number of staff absences this week it has become necessary to reduce the number of students in school. Year 11 should not therefore come into school tomorrow, Friday 17th December and all lessons should be accessed remotely via Class Charts. Parents and carers of students in receipt of free school meals will be able to come down to the main reception between 11.45 and 12.15pm to collect a packed lunch should they require one. Please ensure that you have read the letter about the back-to-school arrangements sent recently, a reminder will be sent out this afternoon. COVID lateral flow home testing kits have already been given out to all Year 11 students that wished to take one. If you have not returned the COVID testing consent form for the on-site lateral flow test in January, you can complete the consent form on the website or collect/return a copy from the main school reception.

Year 10 should return to school at 8.35am in the morning

Our apologies for the inconvenience, but, in the current situation, we will always place the health and well-being of all our students and staff as the highest priority.

    Dear Parent and carers

All students will be finishing and leaving school at 2pm tomorrow, Friday 17th December for the Christmas holidays. Lunches will be served Period 4 as normal and then students will be dismissed.

We would like to thank you for your co-operation and understanding this week as we have rotated year groups due to staff (and supply staff) shortages, as you will be aware from the news reports, this is a national problem that schools have had to contend with due to the pandemic and spread of the new variant.

    • Please could parents and carers read the ‘back to school information’ that has been sent out in recent letters very carefully. A further reminder will be sent to everyone this afternoon.
    • COVID lateral flow home testing kits will be given out to every student that wishes to take one before students leave school tomorrow (Year 11 already have theirs)
