On 11/11/2023, Hannah M in Year 8 represented her rugby team to celebrate the announcement of Sunderland Stadium of Light as a Rugby World Cup 2025 venue.

The Houghton RUFC girls section, attended a coaching session led by former Red Roses captain and current coach, Sarah Hunter, and attended a Q&A session with Sarah and fellow former England captain Tamara Taylor.

The aim of the event was not just to celebrate the election but to inspire girls and women to become more involved in sport, and it was a great success. The club have offered their thanks to Hannah and her club mates.
