Jamie Brown:

Jamie took part in many productions while he was at Heworth Grange such as Les Misérables, My Fair Lady and Sweeney Todd. He went on to study acting at Bretton Hall in Yorkshire and has been a professional performer and director ever since. His work includes a huge range of productions from Shakespeare (including the National Tour of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Hamlet) to Scooby Doo (he was Scooby). He has also worked extensively in the North East recently and has played major roles in shows such as The Machine Gunners, Haddaway Harry, When the Boat Comes In and Geordie the Musical.
David Connelly:
Performance Studies, Media Studies and English Language.
“These courses inspired me to follow a career path in the creative industry and appreciate all the elements that form film, theatre, music and writing. While working on these courses. I also attended the Youth/Community Theatre productions to develop my acting skills. My time here taught me the discipline to work in a professional working environment and prepared me more than I thought in my university days. When I left Heworth, I continued to study theatre at Newcastle College; Acting and Performance Practice BA. Being fortunate to write, direct and perform in multiple performances including Northern Stages “A Christmas Carol” in 2018. After graduating I then went on to study Theatre and Performance MA at Northumbria University. I’m currently developing a theatre company called “Electric Notes”, aiming to pass on what I learnt to the next generation of theatre makers and hopefully produce the rich quality the school has always provided towards their audience. Personally, the theatre environment at Heworth changed my perspective in the arts and even my life as a whole. It made me appreciate not only the acting but the importance of stage crew, technicians, directors, musicians and choreographers. It built a team that supported each other and made every production a joy to be a part of. It inspired me to do the things I was once scared of or didn't believe I could do. Out of all the productions and contacts I’ve worked with, Heworth theatre is without doubt the best experience you’ll have if your interests lie with the arts.”
