On Thursday 15th November, a group of musicians from the Royal Northern Sinfonia visited us. They performed a short concert to two audiences, one of year 7 pupils from Heworth and one of year 6 pupils from six of our local primary schools. They performed three pieces of music by French composers, first explaining what imagery the composers had wanted to create with their music so the pupils knew what to listen out for. They also showed the pupils what the individual instruments sounded like and how they sounded when combined.
It was a fantastic experience for the pupils to see orchestral musicians and instruments up close and to get to ask questions of musicians that belong to a world famous orchestra.
