Year 13 BTEC students visit Xiscad Training

As part of their Btec course year 13 pupils undertake a Networking unit.  This unit explores the internet, the software and hardware associated with internet connection and the creation of a Local Area Network and associated devices.  They are expected to research and document various equipment and also to independently create, connect and test the system.

Myself and 8 6th Form pupils visited Xiscad Training in Sunderland where the CEO Steve Car, was professional, welcoming and a pleasure to meet.  He made the pupils feel at ease and the whole afternoon was well planned, resourced and met the criteria for the unit perfectly.

For more information about Xiscad please visit their website at:

The pupils were given resources to take away, and also introduced to various parts of the business.  They were shown the state of the art facilities and even had a chance to see what it would be like to be an apprentice.

Thank you to Xiscad and a huge thank you to all the staff who made the afternoon thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding.
