Reporting an Absence
Between the hours of 8.00am and 4.00pm, through the school’s main switchboard number 0191 4212244, then selecting option 1.
Contacting the attendance office using the direct number (0191 4387485). Out of office hours, this number can be used to leave a voice mail message.
Texting the attendance office using the number 07624 815973. Please text the name of pupil, form group and reason for absence.
If we do not receive a reason for absence, we will contact you directly or my text message during the day, requesting that you contact us to inform us of the reason for your child’s absence.
The Importance of Attendance
The school target for attendance is 95% and pupils should be aiming to be above this. 95% attendance means 10 days of school missed over a year, or 40 lessons missed. It has been proven when a pupil’s percentage attendance decreases so does their chance of success.
Chances of achieving 5 or more GCSE or equivalent at grades A* to C
Attendance 93% or above
Attendance 88% or below
