What is the preferences process?
Pupils study a reduced number of courses during Key Stage 4 (Year 10 and Year 11) in comparison to the number of courses they have been studying during Key Stage 3 (Years 7 to 9).
Pupils therefore have a choice over a limited number of the subjects they will study during Key Stage 4.
Click here to view the full booklet which gives parents and pupils all of the information they will need, and the forms they will need, to indicate the subjects they would prefer to study from September. You can also click the download button below to save the booklet for later.
Pupils are organised into different pathways where the combination of subjects available to them vary slightly. A pupil’s pathway is decided based on prior attainment from key stage 2 and their effort and progress so far during key stage 3. More information about pathway can be found in the Heworth Grange School Preferences Booklet at the top of this page.
